In Loving Memory of Mike Evans
It is with heavy hearts that we remember Michael Richard “Mike” Evans, 39, who was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office after being found deceased in an alley in Chicago’s East Garfield Park early Friday morning. His passing has left many with unanswered questions and a deep sense of loss.
Just before 1 a.m., police and paramedics responded to the 3500 block of West Adams Street after a caller reported an unresponsive man. Despite their efforts, Mike was pronounced dead at the scene. Initially, he carried no identification, and it took several days before his identity was confirmed. While first believed to have been living in Grayslake, officials later noted he had most recently resided in West Chicago. An autopsy was completed, though the cause and manner of death remain under investigation by Area 4 detectives.
Beyond the headlines and reports was a man whose life had meaning. Mike was known for his quiet charm, his resilience through difficult seasons, and the small ways he showed kindness to others. Those who knew him remember his humor, his loyalty, and his ability to keep going even when life demanded more than most could see.
His passing is a reminder that every story holds weight, and every life deserves compassion. As loved ones await answers, we honor Mike not for the uncertainty surrounding his final moments, but for the person he was.
Rest in peace, Mike. You will not be forgotten.
