Beloved Mother, Stephanie Minter, Fatally Stabbed at Hybla Valley Bus Stop

A 41-year-old woman was fatally stabbed while waiting at a bus stop in Hybla Valley, Virginia, in what authorities have described as a tragic and senseless act of violence. Police have charged a 32-year-old man, who federal officials say has more than 30 prior arrests, with her murder.

According to the Fairfax County Police Department, officers responded to a bus shelter at the intersection of Richmond Highway and Arlington Drive at approximately 7:16 p.m. on February 23 to conduct a death investigation. The bus stop is located in the Hybla Valley area of Fairfax County.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found 41-year-old Stephanie Nicole Minter inside the shelter suffering from multiple stab wounds to her upper body. Police immediately began performing life-saving measures while awaiting the arrival of fire and rescue personnel. Despite their efforts, Minter was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives launched an investigation that included reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and interviewing witnesses. Authorities said the investigation identified 32-year-old Abdul Jalloh as the last person seen with Minter before the stabbing. According to police, both individuals were observed exiting the same bus shortly before the attack occurred.

Investigators have not disclosed whether Minter and Jalloh knew each other prior to the incident, and it remains unclear what may have led to the fatal confrontation.

After Jalloh was publicly identified as a person of interest, officers responded to a separate call involving a suspicious person in the Woodlawn area on February 24 at approximately 4:01 p.m. An employee at a nearby business reportedly recognized him and contacted police. When officers arrived, they located Jalloh and connected him to a larceny that had been reported earlier that day. He was arrested and charged with petit larceny.

As the homicide investigation progressed, detectives determined that Jalloh was responsible for Minter’s death. Authorities obtained a warrant charging him with second-degree murder in connection with the stabbing.

In a statement issued on March 2, the Department of Homeland Security said that Jalloh had been arrested more than 30 times in the United States. The agency also stated that he entered the country illegally in 2012 and received a final order of removal in 2020.

Jalloh remains in custody without bond as the case moves forward through the legal system.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal stabbing remains ongoing. Police have not released additional details about a possible motive and are continuing to ask anyone with information to contact authorities.
