In Loving Memory of Linda Skinner
The Harlem Township community in Delaware County is mourning the loss of Linda Skinner, who tragically passed away early Monday morning after a devastating house fire on the 14000 block of Woodtown Road. Around 5:18 a.m., a bystander noticed heavy flames and alerted emergency crews. When firefighters arrived, the back-left corner of the home was already collapsing, making immediate entry dangerous and difficult.
Inside, responders were met with what officials later described as “heavy hoarder conditions,” which added further challenges to their search. While crews worked to gain access, Linda’s brother arrived on scene and directed firefighters to where she would likely be found. Sadly, Linda was located and later pronounced dead, leaving her family and community heartbroken by the sudden loss.
Investigators with the State Fire Marshal’s Office are now assisting with determining the cause of the fire. Authorities noted that crews did not hear or locate any working smoke detectors inside the home. In the wake of the tragedy, the Harlem Township Division of Fire issued an important reminder to the public, urging everyone to ensure their homes are equipped with functioning smoke alarms. They also shared that anyone lacking proper smoke detectors can contact the station to receive assistance.
Linda Skinner will be remembered with love by those who knew her. Her passing serves as a sobering reminder of life’s fragility and the importance of safety, awareness, and community care.
May she rest in peace.
