The Mercer County community is mourning the tragic loss of 71-year-old Sharon Britton of Cornishville, Kentucky, who passed away Friday, January 16, 2026, following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of North College Street and Tapp Road. Sharon’s sudden death has left family, friends, and neighbors grappling with shock and sorrow, as a life filled with years of memories and connections came to an untimely end.

The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, reported that the collision occurred just before 1:00 p.m., when Sharon, operating a 2016 Nissan Versa, failed to yield to a traffic control device. Her vehicle entered the intersection and collided with a 2017 Lincoln Navigator driven by 79-year-old Jennings Marshall of Harrodsburg, Kentucky. Emergency crews arrived swiftly, transporting Sharon to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Despite the efforts of first responders and medical personnel, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased by Boyle County Coroner Eric Guerrant. Jennings Marshall was also transported to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

First responders from the Kentucky State Police, Harrodsburg Police Department, Harrodsburg Fire Department, AmeriPro EMS, and the Boyle County Coroner’s Office worked together at the scene, ensuring the safety of all involved and assisting in the ongoing investigation led by Trooper Tyler Holt.

Sharon’s passing leaves behind a community remembering her warmth, kindness, and the quiet ways she touched the lives of those around her. Her memory serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of treasuring every moment with loved ones.
