According to authorities, a specialized dive team recovered the teenager’s body Thursday evening from Red Cove Lake, bringing a solemn end to days of searching in challenging conditions.
Kaminanga was last seen Monday afternoon canoeing with three friends when the boat they were in unexpectedly tipped over in the cold waters of the lake. While the other teens were able to make it safely to shore, Kaipo did not resurface. Emergency responders were notified shortly after the incident, launching an urgent search and rescue operation.
